Forest plantation is defined as a form of land use system where a piece of land, or part thereof, is planted with any group of trees or plants, or with both, of the same or mixed species, either with or without agro-forestry integration and silviculturally managed, for the production of wood, and includes any other usage related thereto. Rubber tree is one of the species for the establishment of forest plantation. This is a second edition of a monograph published earlier. Several new topics such as on production of high quality planting materials were included to this edition besides other topics such as the agronomic practices on planting and managing the plants and plantation, and the economics of a rubber forest plantation. The information in this monograph is compiled from the vast experience of the Institute in research and cultivation of rubber as well as from the experience of MRB in establishing rubber forest plantation.
