Description: This book aims to provide information that would serve as a compendium to SMR producers and SMR test laboratories, and to those interested in the production, testing and control aspects of technically specified natural rubber. The more general and historical aspects are treated briefly in Section 1 for convenient reference including a brief mention of packaging and palletisation. Each of the succeeding section deals with a particular aspect of SMR, such as control of standards, establishment of laboratories and testing details, the inspectorate services and consumer complaints and operation of the R.R.I.M. Commercial Testing Unit. The last section looks forward and considers ways by which the place of natural rubber can be further consolidated through the co-ordination of the work of natural rubber producing contries and emphasises the need for a unified set of specifications, packaging and compliance criteria. The book also provides six appendices, which tabulate much useful information on the setting up of a laboratory.
