Description: It is expected that by the end of July 1972, one milion tones of SMR would have been shipped to about fifty-two different countries. This rapid increase in SMR export, since it was introduced in 1965, makes it opportune at this stage to review the growth of SMR int terms of the various grades and examine the many developments that characterise a Scheme wich is alive to the changing conditions of consumption and is ready to meet new and particular needs of the consumers. This paper will also consider consumer reactions to the scheme, including adverse critics.
